Terms of use

Agreement and eligibility

Hearthpage is operated by Alexander Southern. By creating an account or using Hearthpage, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. You must be at least 13 and legally able to enter this agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Your account

Provide accurate information, protect your sign-in credentials, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity under your account. You may export your data or delete your account from Settings at any time.

Your content

You retain ownership of the notes, reflections, images and other content you submit. You give Hearthpage a limited, worldwide licence to host, copy, process and display that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service and provide features you request. This licence ends when the content is deleted, subject to reasonable backup, security and legal retention.

You are responsible for having the right to save or upload content. Quotation, clipping and reader-view tools do not grant rights in a publisher's work. Do not use Hearthpage to infringe copyright, privacy or other rights.

Acceptable use

You must not:

• break the law or violate another person's rights;
• upload malware or harmful, deceptive or abusive material;
• probe, disrupt, overload, bypass limits, or gain unauthorised access to the service;
• use automated means to scrape Hearthpage or another user's data without permission; or
• use the service or AI features in a way prohibited by an applicable provider policy.

AI-assisted results

AI features are optional and require the permission described in the Privacy Policy. Results are generated automatically, may be inaccurate or incomplete, and are not professional, legal, medical or financial advice. Review a result before relying on, sharing or saving it. You remain responsible for how you use it.

Third-party services and content

Hearthpage can link to publisher pages and use services such as Apple, Google, Open Library and Anthropic. Their own terms and privacy practices apply to their services. Hearthpage does not control or endorse third-party content and is not responsible for its accuracy, availability or legality.

Plans, early access and App Store terms

Features currently described as early access may change, be limited or be removed. If paid plans are introduced, price and renewal terms will be shown before purchase and applicable cancellation and refund rights will apply. Digital purchases made through Apple are also subject to Apple's applicable App Store terms and billing rules.

Service changes and termination

We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of Hearthpage, including for maintenance, security, legal or product reasons. We may restrict or terminate access for a material or repeated breach of these terms, security risk, abuse, or legal requirement. Where practical, we will give notice and a chance to export data first.

Disclaimers and responsibility

Hearthpage is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted service, permanent storage, or that every extraction, cover, sync or AI result will be correct. Keep an export of material you cannot afford to lose.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Otherwise, to the extent permitted by law, Hearthpage is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss caused by third-party content or services. Any total liability relating to the service will not exceed the greater of £100 and the amount you paid Hearthpage in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
